Who they are
The Cambodia Community-Based Ecotourism Network (CCBEN) is the only network of more than 30 members including communities, non-governmental organisations, academic institutes and private companies who are working closely with ecotourism. CCBEN aims to support, promote and advocate for this unique style of tourism in order to conserve natural and cultural resources, to protect the environment and to raise sustainable wellbeing of the local communities across the country.
What they do
Training and Consultancy
CCBEN provides capacity building workshops, training and consultancy services to communities, local and international NGOs and national and regional government officers.
Product Development and Marketing
CCBEN helps and advises it’s members and local communities to develop tourism products such as developing home-stays, food preparation, itineraries, etc. Once developed, CCBEN markets and promotes these products to travel agencies and tourists through the production and distribution of promotional material and the attendance of (international) fairs.
Advocacy
CCBEN’s key-message to the government is to make tourism work for the poor and the environment through local empowerment and ownership of tourism resources. CCBEN introduces the concept of CBET to government officials through dialogue and training.
What they offer
CCBEN offers a range of information for travellers on various community torusim sites that will give visitors an opportunity to get to know local Cambodians, to experience memorable hospitality, to learn about the history, culture and daily life of life in the village. Visitors will also have ample time to see some stunning natural attractions, and by doing so, support environmental and natural conservation.
