Who they are

ConCERT Cambodia was established to increase support for the most disadvantaged people of Siem Reap. They do this by making it easy for people to help Siem Reap charities and non-profit organisations that work in the local community. In Siem Reap province, over half of the people live below the poverty line, living on less than 30 cents per day, and a large number of organisations and NGOs are engaged in community development and support activities, which supplement the work of the government. The average length of stay in Siem Reap is only 3 or 4 days and tourists who wish to support local organisations have great difficulty in locating worthy causes. The office is in the centre of Siem Reap and they have information on a range of well managed, financially transparent and sustainable organisations and NGOs that work in partnership with local people. They know what these organisations do and they know in detail the type of support they need. ConCERT helps people find an organisation that needs the kind of help they can give.

What they do

ConCERT works in 6 main areas:
- Increasing the amount and quality of support for Siem Reap organisations
- Providing information to tourists
- Promoting and supporting responsible volunteering
- Facilitating Networking and Training events for NGO personnel
- Liaison between NGOs, and between NGOs and businesses
- Helping to increase responsible tourism in Siem Reap

What they offer

Several of their members offer ecotourism activities, and they promote these at the office. They have an information board explaining ecotourism and community based activities in general, and information/leaflets from the various activity providers. These cover a wide range of activities, such as visits to wildlife sactuaries, homestays, cooking courses, village tours, trekking, adventure tours that include community support programmes, specialist bird watching/community support tours, and agcricultural diversifiactyion schemes. Their member organisations also need volunteers.
