Communities

Koh Pdao & Koh Preah

Who they are

Koh Pdao and Koh Preah people follow Buddhism which permeates all areas of community life. One famous Buddhist wish in the community is as follows, “When you behave in a good way, it will bring you something good, while if you behave in a bad way, it will bring you something bad.” For Buddhists, the monk and nun are highly respected and most of them reside in Wats. The people of Koh Pdao speak Khmer while the people of Koh Preah speak Khmer and Lao. For the people of both Koh Pdoa and Koh Preah their traditional clothing is the same as that found throughout Cambodia – the sarong. The relationship between family members and neighbours is always good due to the fact that their cultural heritage and their agricultural way of live means they depend on each other for support.
