Who they are
Silver Stripe Outdoors was born with the objective to promote and create responsible tourism in ways that are imaginative; and with programmes that are suited to explore the amazing diversity of nature.
Pioneered by an eclectic bunch of wildlife and nature enthusiasts, and having set out to walk the talk, the group offers a delightful mix of treks, village homestays, expeditionary voyages and bike-hikes mostly in the Uttarakhand and Himachal ranges of the lower Himalayas.
What they do
The village homestay programme is one of the key initiatives Silver Stripe Outdoors’ set-up as they developed a responsible tourism company ethic. There main objectives are centred towards local community development, environment, wild-life conservation. Key stakeholders in the company are Tushar Raghuvanshi and Sundar Singh from whose village they started this initiative and which they have spread to encompass 4 more villages in the Binsar region of the state of uttarakhand in India. All resources including men and material are sourced locally and they share revenue with members of the respective communities including people who cook and lead treks, as well as mule owners and porters. Also, a percentage of the overall profits is used to introduce and implement more eco-friendly products and services and to improve educational
infrastructure in the villages
